Samira Rafaela

Cornell University, former elected Member of the European Parliament

Samira was an elected Member of the European Parliament from 2019 to 2024. In this role, she was the standing rapporteur for the EU's Forced Labour Regulation, and the rapporteur for the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) in the Employment and Social Affairs Committee. She was a visiting fellow at the Global Labor Institute of Cornell University's School of Industrial and Labor Relations (ILR) from June 2024 to June 2025. Samira remains affiliated with Cornell University and will continue to share her expertise on global labor governance, international trade and gender equality and legislation.
