#Social and working conditions

Abstract

Child labor remains a critical issue with profound implications for poverty and economic development. Although children's contributions can support household incomes, the long-term consequences of child labor hinder sustainable development. This seminar will explore the drivers of child labor, examine the role of poverty and evaluate the effectiveness of policies aimed at its reduction. Eric Edmonds will present evidence on the factors contributing to child labor and assess the impact of policy interventions, while Annette Niederfranke will discuss the global role of the International Labour Organization (ILO) to eradicate child labor and key initiatives in cooperation with states, social partners and the private sector.

The 3D Seminar - Digital Development Dialogue

The 3D seminar is a monthly 45-minute online forum, in which one researcher and one practitioner touch upon key topics in development policy, stimulating a meaningful dialogue across the theory and practice divide.
